How direct ordering and Uber Direct work for your venue.
Uber sells its drivers to restaurants as a delivery service, Uber Direct, separately from the Uber Eats marketplace. Your customer orders in your app, counter books the trip, an Uber driver picks it up. You pay per trip, not a percentage of the order.
Uber Direct charges about $10 + $1.10 per km (ex GST), around $13 for a 3 km trip. The customer pays it as the delivery fee, like on any delivery app, but without the marketplace's service fee and commission on top. You choose: pass it on in full, share it, or offer free delivery above an order amount.
On Uber Eats, menu prices are usually marked up to cover the 30% commission, and a service fee is added. In your app, customers pay your in-store prices. On Mary's typical order that is $9.29 less, even after delivery.
No. Keep it for customers who don't know you yet. Move the ones who already order from you, your regulars, to your own app: that is where the 30% hurts most and where loyalty brings them back.
