How a Newtown burger bar would keep $3,301 more a month without Uber Eats' 30%
Two Bacon Kimchi Burgers and a house burger: an $87 order on Uber Eats. We ran this Newtown burger bar's real menu through the simulator to see what changes when the same regulars order from the bar's own app.

Worked example from the counter simulator: a real Uber Eats menu and its listed prices, captured on 1 November 2026. The venue is not a counter customer, and the growth figures are estimates, not results.
The same order, two very different cheques
On Uber Eats the order costs the customer $94.99: $87 of food at Uber Eats prices, a $4 service fee and $3.99 delivery. The bar then pays a 30% commission, $26.10, and receives $60.90.
From the bar's own app, the customer pays in-store prices ($72.40 for the same food) plus delivery by Uber Direct, the same Uber drivers billed at cost. The customer pays $85.70, $9.29 less. The bar receives $72.40, all of it.
| Uber Eats | Own app | |
|---|---|---|
| Items | $87.00 | $72.40 |
| Service fee | $4.00 | $0.00 |
| Delivery | $3.99 | $13.30 |
| Customer pays | $94.99 | $85.70 |
| Commission | −$26.10 | $0.00 |
| Restaurant receives | $60.90 | $72.40 |
Uber Eats commission of 30%, depending on your agreement. Uber Direct delivery at $10 + $1.10/km ex GST, shown for 3 km. In-store prices estimated 20% below Uber Eats prices.
$11.50 an order becomes $3,301 a month
That is $11.50 more for the bar on every order. At 300 delivery orders a month, and after the counter House app plan ($149 ex GST), it adds up to +$3,301 a month, close to $40,000 a year.
Nothing else changes for the kitchen: same drivers, same bags, same burgers. The order just arrives through the bar's own app instead of a marketplace.
Where the other gains come from
The delivery saving is just the start. On the simulator's typical case, the bar's own app adds:
- Bigger orders, +6%: the app suggests large fries or a drink on every order (+$1,303 a month).
- Regulars come back, +10%: points on every order and win-back offers (+$2,302 a month).
- New customers, +5%: every guest is asked for a Google review (+$1,151 a month).
- 8 hours a month back for the team, with orders going straight to the kitchen (+$240).
Together: +$6,633 a month for the bar, about 22% more revenue. Extra sales are counted after a 35% food cost.
Run your own menu
The simulator finds your venue on Uber Eats, picks a typical order from your menu and does the same maths in a few seconds. Try it with your restaurant.
